The Power of Morning Energy

“The energy you have in the morning is the energy your kids will have for the day.”

One of my clients shared this in the coaching room the other day as the women were grappling with boundaries. This woman has been coaching with me for over three years. I’ve watched her rise from COO to CEO and have her confidence rocked in the process. She’s so strong that she didn’t stay shell-shocked long. She quickly reminded herself who she is and when the Board started placing demands on her that did not align with her values, she found herself another incredible CEO position.

While she’s an amazingly fabulous leader, she’s also a thoughtful and kind mom. When she speaks about anything, I listen, and when she speaks about parenting, I write down what she says. Her quote about energy in the morning is one I have pondered for quite a while now and I decided to share how the energy we bring into our mornings can influence the dynamics and outcomes of our relationships, both at home and in the workplace.

Setting the Tone for the Day

The way we start our day sets the tone for everything that follows. When we wake up with a positive and vibrant energy, it can have a ripple effect on our kids and staff. Our children are highly attuned to our moods and emotions, and they absorb and mirror our energy. Similarly, our staff members look to us as role models and leaders, drawing inspiration from our demeanor.

Radiating Positivity and Enthusiasm

I’m sure you also have those days when you wake up grumpy and tired, rush through your morning routine, and head into the day with a negative mindset. Contrast that with days when you wake up refreshed, practice self-care rituals, and enter the day with enthusiasm and positivity. You know which scenario has a more positive impact on the people around you. When we radiate positivity and enthusiasm in the morning, it creates an uplifting atmosphere that encourages creativity, productivity, and collaboration, not only for us – also for those around us. Our children feel motivated and supported, while our staff members are more likely to engage actively in their work and go the extra mile.

Nurturing Relationships

Our morning energy extends beyond mere productivity and performance. It also plays a significant role in nurturing and strengthening our relationships. When we approach our interactions with warmth, kindness, and patience, it fosters a sense of connection and trust. With our children, starting the day with positive energy helps build a strong foundation for open communication, empathy, and understanding. As for our staff, a supportive and uplifting morning environment enables them to feel valued and appreciated, leading to increased job satisfaction and loyalty.

Leading by Example

As women in leadership roles, we have the opportunity to inspire and empower those around us. By embodying positive morning energy, we demonstrate the importance of self-care, balance, and emotional well-being. Our kids and staff observe our behaviors and internalize them as valuable life lessons. Moreover, when we prioritize our own well-being and model healthy habits, we encourage others to do the same. This creates a ripple effect, spreading positivity throughout our homes and workplaces.

The energy we bring into our mornings has a profound impact on our children and staff. By consciously cultivating positive energy, we set the stage for harmonious relationships, increased productivity, and personal growth. Let us embrace the power of morning energy and harness its potential to create a nurturing and thriving environment for all.
